Hi, thank you for sharing your question. The type of bloodwork or studies that need to be done before a procedure are unique to each patient and their surgeon. After your doctor evaluates you, he/she will let you know. Without knowing your history or examining you, it’s not something that can be predicted.
We require complete bloodwork, chest x-ray, ekg and breast ultrasound/ mammogram for these surgeries
Dear shaylalayala, every plastic surgeon has his own preoperative protocol which he recommends to his patients. I would suggest you to discuss this with your plastic surgeon.Daniel Barrett, MDCertified, American Board of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
Thanks for your question! It depends on what the surgeon requires and your age. Usually it is a CBC & possibly a mammogram.Check with your surgeon for his/her protocol. Best wishes!
Pre operative screening will largely depend on your surgeon and anesthesiologist preferences. Generally a mammogram is done for patient that are high risk or age appropriate. Other testing would depend on your pre surgery health and other factors.
The specific labs required before breast augmentation or liposuction 360 can vary based on your health and the surgeon’s preferences. Typically, basic tests like blood count, coagulation profile, and metabolic panels are conducted. An MRI is not typically a routine preoperative test for these procedures, but your surgeon may recommend it based on individual factors or specific medical history. It’s crucial to consult with your surgeon to determine the necessary preoperative assessments tailored to your case.
Labs prior to surgery are determined by the surgeon based on surgeon protocol and patient medical history. All women of child bearing age will have a pregnancy test prior to surgery. An MRI would not typically be a needed test.
Every surgeon may have a different set of labs he, she, or anesthesia requires. For my facilities, I get a CBC, complete blood count, plus a PT to check your clotting status, and a HIV screen to make sure you are not in the active phase. If you are at least 40 and have not had a mammogram in the past 2 years, or you are over 35 with breast cancer prevalent in your family, then we order a mammogram. I do not routinely order an MRI unless the radiologist recommends such. Plus, insurance does not cover an MRI without a mammogram and ultrasound being done first and recommended by a radiologist.
Each surgeon and or facility will have their own protocols. On young healthy people we don’t order any tests before surgery except a urine pregnancy test on the day of surgery for all women.Best,Mats Hagstrom, MD
Hello, the pre-op labs are the same as they always been (CBC, CMP, PT, and PTT). Unless you have a specific medical issue, an MRI is not required.
Thanks for your question. All breast implants will form a capsule as this is what happens when any foreign material (in this case the breast implant) is inserted into your body. If your wounds have now healed and you still have your implant, then yes a capsule will form around it. The incision...
