The BBL epidemic. What are your thoughts on the rise of BBLs?

what are your thoughts on the rise of bbls? its very clearly a body trend as in the 90s and 00s it was all about being as skinny as possible and now the body trend is to have bigger boobs and butt while some how maintaining a small waist. have you given in to the demand of bbls and performed them even though the trend is not going to last and all these women are going to be stuck with these implants in there butt. just wanted to hear what suergons thought

You are absolutely correct. Society trends are heavily influenced by the media and celebrities.  At one time the Twiggy look was in , then big breasts came into Vogue and now it is the trend is to have skinny waistlines and big butts.  The JLo look is in.  Who knows how long this trend will last.  
   In my practice in Las Vegas, there is a high demand for that look.  Your concern about butt implants isnt quite accurate because we rarely use butt implants.  BBL is a method of contouring the body by sculp-ting fat from the waistline and belly and transferring it to the buttock area.  It is the epitomy of body sculpting.

Hello, while its true there are fads in aesthetics and the BBL, in some respects, is one of these, not all BBLs are created equal. If a conservative assessment of abdominal, back and gluteal anatomy and proportion is taken the results of a "BBL" or gluteal augmentation can actually be rather natural. In truth, the lions-share of what is achieved in a BBL is related to liposuction of the flanks, and the lower back. After this liposuction, depending on patient goals, fat can be added to project and shape the gluteal area, but this is not strictly necessary. The problem with trends is that, simply because it is a trend, does not make the patients desire any less valid. Patients are entitled to desire certain looks... Also, some trends in appearance can last a very long time (hundred of years) rather than only a few years, or even only a decade. Plastic surgery (in my view) is more about making patients feel more confident, or at home in their skin rather than making the body look a particular way. Hope this helps.
