Could having the flu virus weeks out from a rhinoplasty postpone surgery?

I’ve had the flu since 3/5 (today is 3/7). I’ve had a steady fever since then. I’m at 100.8 now. I’m hoping that this will pass without any major complications. Can the flu virus three weeks out postpone a surgery? If I end up going to the ER I assume my surgeon needs to know. My rhinoplasty is 3/27.

Having the flu three weeks prior to rhinoplasty should not affect the outcome of the procedure as long as you're feeling very good at the time you undergo the procedure. Always best to check in with your surgeon and keep them informed on your progress

If you're still 3 weeks out from surgery, you'll likely be fine to have the procedure at the end of the month. I would still let your surgeon know though as each person is a little bit different. I hope you feel better!Best,~Dr. Sieber

As long as you have medical clearance from your Primary Care Physician, you should be fine.  If fever or flu symptoms are present, I would postpone the surgery. Surgery has a tendency to weaken your resistance, so obviously you want to be in the best health before embarking on elective surgery.
