When you undergo liposuction for a brazilian butt lift, the excess skin is left behind. More often than not, the fat take out leaves more loose skin and additional surgery is required to tighten it. Skin elasticity is good when you're in your early twenties, after that it likely is insignificant to compensate for the laxity generate by the liposuction - ie don't count on skin elasticity to correct excess skin. If you were to be left with excess skin, would you want to have it corrected? Talk to your board certified plastic surgeon about what he / she recommends and you may find they'll talk about skin tightening such as a tummy tuck (if it's your tummy that has the extra skin)
If you have loose skin prior to liposuction and desire buttocks enhancement then two separate operations should be performed. The first surgery should be liposuction with fat transfer to the buttocks. The loose skin should be allowed to shrink as much as possible. Skin of the abdomen is usually the issue and so the second surgery at least 6 months later should be a tummy tuck. This should further to enhance the buttocks size by narrowing the waist. Some surgeons will perform these procedures at one operation. I do not. Dr. ES
If you have loose skin prior to liposuction and Brazilian buttlift, a tummy tuck or something similar could be considered at the same time. Other areas of liposuction such as the sides and back tend to do much better with liposuction despite some laxity. Of course, much of the result is dependent upon who performs the liposuction and the Brazilian buttlift. Find a plastic surgeon who performs hundreds of Brazilian buttlifts each year. Then look at the plastic surgeon's website before and after photo galleries to get a sense of who can deliver the results. Kenneth Hughes, MD Los Angeles, CA
One of the skin properties is elasticity , that is why after liposuction skin contracts and shrinks . The use of compression garments after liposuction also help the skin to reduce and stick to the underlying tissues . If the fat is taken from a very flaccid area , another procedure must be added in order to achieve good results . Best wishes
If you have excess lax skin then the area for liposuction should include skin tightening procedure as well. Otherwise you will have saggy skin. In person evaluation will give you all the options to improve on the saggy skin and do a proper Brazilian Butt Lift
Good question. It's the same issue as if the areas were having lipo alone (ie, ignoring that the fat will be used for transfer). The final result depends to a certain degree on the inherent ability for contraction. That varies according to many factors; weight gain and loss, pregnancies, skin type, etc. You should talk to your PS to get an idea of what your donor areas can be expected to look like after this procedure. Good luck, Dr. E
Thanks for your question. With Brazilian butt lift we transfer fat from one area of the body to the other. These fat cells are transferred in microinjections throughout multiple planes in the buttock tissue so that they can gain new blood supply and live in their new home, providing increased v...
