How many cc's of Botox are used with a sprinkle? (photo)

I've been following medical aesthetics on Instagram and a few practitioners are doing what they call a Botox sprinkle. I'm curious how many cc's are used in this procedure versus a traditional botox injection

Botox "sprinkling" uses more injection sites but it is the size and activity of the target muscle that determines the dose. Lower doses may not last as long. The dose is measured in "units" while the "cc's" are determined by the dilution.

One sprinkle of Botox is...a sprinkle! I'm not aware of this verbiage to describe a Botox treatment when used for lines and wrinkles. When it comes to toxins like Botox, it seems our patients want at least a dash, not a sprinkle! Caveat emptor. Dr Joseph

First of all, welcome to the confusing world of Social Media where literally anyone can make up anything and we all believe it!  BOTOX (like all other neuromodulators) is measured in units and not cc's.  And there is technically so such thing as a "sprinkle".  However, cutesy accounts on Instagram make up these words to effectively brand themselves and to make you think that they have come up with something new.What they are probably alluding to is termed "microtox" or "micro botox" and has been around for years. "Botox Sprinkle" is a term used to describe treating wrinkles lightly. This is used in patients who want minimal correction or wrinkle prevention. The average amount of Botox used in the forehead is anywhere from 8-16 units depending on the strength of the muscle. This number can vary greatly, so it is best to see your practitioner in order to discuss your treatment goals.

Botox is measured by units rather than cc's.  Generally, "sprinkling" or multiple injections of smaller doses are used to provide correction for a variety of reasons including those who want to retain movement, areas that are lower on the forehead, etc.

This question is difficult to answer because here exist multiple ways to dilute the botox. In other words, 0.1 cc may have either 10 units, or 4 units if the reconstitution was 1 cc or 2.5 cc , respectively.
My advice to you is to consult with someone experienced in non-surgical facial rejuvenation techniques (e.g., a board-certified Facial Plastic Surgeon) so that you receive an expert evaluation and execution of your Botox.

The number of units of Botox needed to create a desired effect will vary by patient and injected location.  Whether the units are "sprinkled" or placed with fewer injections sites, the number of units needed will remain essentially the same.

There is no defined number of units or cc's for a "sprinkle" botox. It ultimately depends on the person injecting. This technique usually refers to injecting less botox at each site but placing many more sites all around the area to be treated. This can give you a less stiff or paralyzed look so that you can still have facial movement but without the wrinkle formation. I believe what you are referring to is the "microBotox" technique which utilized lower doses and in some cases higher dilution on the upper face to help improve the skin but keep natural expression. Botox dosing is not measured in cc's. The dose for this technique would vary based on individuals but it would be lower then the 40-60 units typically used to treat the upper face.
