How soon before and afterwards can someone have Botox after a rhinoplasty?

Question

Generally, how soon beforehand and afterwards can someone have Botox done after a rhinoplasty? The botox would be in the forehead, 11 lines, and possibly jaw muscle.

Hi, thanks for your question. Typically you can probably have Botox one week before your surgery and two weeks after. Given that the injections are not in the same are as your surgery, you shouldn't experience any adverse effects. That said, every plastic surgeon has their own pre and post-operative guidelines and you should follow those as closely and carefully as possible in order to ensure the best result and a speedy recovery. I would consult with your rhinoplasty surgeon before you decide to have any treatments whether before or after surgery.

You can have Botox even a few days before rhinoplasty in most cases. As far as getting injections after surgery, it will depend in part on how well you heal from your procedure. Most patients can think about Botox within two or three weeks unless there is excessive swelling after surgery. I recommend speaking with your plastic surgeon about your specific situation. Your surgeon should be able to recommend a timetable for you that will be safe and produce excellent results.

As a rhinoplasty surgeon, I would prefer my patients not have active botox anywhere around the nose at the time of the procedure, just for the rare chance that the botox's effect is altering the shape of the nose in any way.
After the surgery, botox can be done safely at around the 14 day mark, which is typically the time when a majority of the swelling has dissipated.
My advice to you is to consult with someone experienced in both surgical and non-surgical rhinoplasty and facial rejuvenation techniques (e.g., a board-certified Facial Plastic Surgeon) so that you receive an expert and unbiased opinion.

Hi, I would recommend that you undergo your Botox treatment about one week before surgery, or at least 2 weeks after surgery.  Definitely discuss this with your surgeon before proceeding.

You can have Botox in the areas you mentioned a few days before a rhinoplasty.  After surgery you will want to wait a few weeks before having Botox treatment.  I recommend you speak with your surgeon just to be sure as he/she is most familiar with the details of your surgery.
