Hi Doctors. I am 48 years old and in menopause for 9 months, have flashes, swellings and i can see I am gaining weight easily ,I was 60 kg now is 68kg . My question is; can I do liposaction in menopause and could it badly affect to my hormonal levels ? I heard that when you stopping your women period, your fat is giving missing hormones to the body which your body stopped reproduce during menopause. And how many liters of fat is safety to liposaction during menopause? Thank you very much !
Answer: Can you have liposuction during menopause? Hello @Azerbaijan thank you for your question. Yes you can have a liposuction during menopause. Liposuction results differ from person to person, but in general they are long lasting provided your level of exercise and diet remain the same. In the menopause process weight can change, however you can have liposuction with menopause and it won't affect your hormonal levels. In a liposuction procedure the number of fat cells in the area is diminished, with less fat cells, because there are fewer fat cells present after liposuction, the area will neither gain nor lose much size with weight gain or weight loss. Is important that you are clear with your specialist in the results that you seek. Best wishes!

Answer: Liposuction Candidate -- Liposuction and Menopause Liposuction can definitely be done when undergoing menopause. You need a formal evaluation by an expert in body shaping and contouring to determine what is best. The best in body contouring not only removes fat with energy devices like VASER ultrasound but also internally heats the skin with radiofrequency devices such as Renuvion (J-Plasma), InMode BodyTite, and ThermiRF to heat the undersurface of the skin and tighten it at the same time as fat removal. These combinations are called 4D HI-DEF VASER Liposuction and can only be done by a well-trained body contouring specialist. At the same time, fat should be harvested and purified, with PRP and stem cells added, and then injected into muscles, indentations and cellulite to get body shaping and contouring. For a Brazilian butt lift (BBL), we inject the fat into the buttock for contouring and lifting, but fat can also be used in areas such as the chest/breast, arms/shoulders, calves and face. Cellulite should also be treated with a combination of QWO or Cellfina, subcision, and/or fillers such as Bellafill, Renuva synthetic fat, or Sculptra. If skin is very loose before surgery, then it will need to be removed: tummy tuck/abdominoplasty for lower abdominal skin; breast lift for excess breast skin; and/or a brachioplasty for loose arm skin. Overall, you need a full assessment, but simple liposuction alone will not tighten skin and needs a combination of various methods -- fat removal, skin tightening, defining, fat grafting, skin removal -- to get the best in body contouring and body sculpting. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer.

Answer: Liposuction and menopause Yes, you can have liposuction during menopause. Also, the safe amount to be removed during one session is 10 lbs and is done on an out-patient basis. Best Wishes, Gary Horndeski, M.D.

Answer: Liposuction during menopause Going through menopause should not prevent you from having liposuction or any other cosmetic surgery. I think your concerns are somewhat unfounded. I suggest having a few consultations with local board-certified plastic surgeons to get an assessment if this is a good procedure for you. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
