I am almost done with radiation and chemo treatments after being diagnosed with stage 3B cervical cancer. Was hoping to have the tummy tuck and breast implants done in 3-4 years. Is it even possible to have this procedure done?
Answer: Desire TT and BA after treatment of cervical cancer I would give your body time to recover from your chemo and to make sure your cancer is under control. If as you say that you are planning this in the 3-4 years, then I think that is reasonable. The pelvic radiation can increase your chance of having wound healing issues. Radiation has an effect on wound healing. It really depends on the field treated by radiation. Your radiation oncologist would be able to give you an idea of the field of radiation-- whether your tummy is in the field or not. As with all cosmetic procedures, your plastic surgeon would have to look at your overall medical history and your exam to see if you are a suitable candidate. I would recommend consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon.
