Dear millye85,breast revision surgery is the most difficult plastic surgery procedure performed. Botched breast surgery alters normal tissue planes and laxity, the ability of breasts to heal properly, and leaves scar tissue that dramatically affects the level of difficulty of the corrective surgery. Many patients come in to correct poor outcomes from their initial surgeries. The most common problems are due to implant malposition, bottoming out of the implant, poor scarring, and incorrect implant size. While the type of revision required will depend on the result of the previous surgery and the desired result of the patient, some revisions involve extensive pocket repair that may or may not need specialized external bras.If you are considering breast surgery revision, you should speak with a board certified plastic surgeon and have yourself properly assessed. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations. Also, you have to make sure that your surgeon understands your breast augmentation goals.Daniel Barrett, MDCertified, American Board of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
With your one photo, you do not show symmastia. However, these implants are too large for your frame and are not symmetrical. I would suggest going smaller to fit your frame. You might even need your tissue opened more inside as you appear to have some tuberous changes. You do need your lower pockets corrected to be symmetrical.
Based on your post of photo photos, you have significant contour and appearance deformity of a breast. Best of virtual consult with or in person consult with. Might offer explant capsule pocket closure and light with fat trans to rebuild breast with more symmetry. Again, best of virtual consult
To make a quality assessment regarding the outcome of any plastic surgery procedure, we need quality information. This means including appropriate before and after pictures. If you’ve had more than one operation that we need to see before and after pictures of each of your previous procedures.Breast augmentation outcomes are generally based on three variables. The first is patient candidacy. The second is implant selection and the third is the surgeons skill or ability to put the implant in the correct anatomic location. Your case I think your outcome has issues related to each of the above variables. You may not have been an ideal candidate for breast augmentation surgery.I think implant selection was not ideal and I think your surgeons ability to do the surgery correctly at some point may also have been limited. There is distortion and disfigurement in your breast shape and that tells me there’s a good chance you’ve had previous complications like capsular contractions.Your situation is highly complex and cannot be assessed by simply posting pictures. To get an appropriate quality, second opinion consultation, I suggest you schedule those in person consultations with other plastic surgeons in your community. For second opinion consultations come prepared bringing with you a complete set of proper before and after pictures and operative reports for each of your previous procedures. All of those documents are available from previous providers request.Operative, reports, and before and after pictures are part of your medical record which you can obtain by simply asking for them.Once you have all the information, you can schedule a second opinion in person consultation with other plastic surgeons in your community and which point you can get a better understanding of why you’re outcome looks the way it does, and what potential revision procedures may be possible to improve the outcome.Best,Mats Hagstrom MD
Dear Minc4211, though rare, some women who undergo breast augmentation will develop a minor deformity known as a “double bubble,” in which additional folds appear underneath the breasts due to the implant accidentally shifting or contracting post-surgery. In most cases, the implant simply sli...
Dear Mebutbetternow, I understand your concern. However, without a proper assessment, it would be difficult to determine what is wrong. It is best that you visit your plastic surgeon for further assessment or ask for a second opinion. Only after a thorough examination, you can get proper...
Dear mfaesthetics7, determining whether you need simply a breast augmentation versus a breast lift can be somewhat complicated. It depends on a number of factors including skin laxity and current nipple position. Generally speaking, if the nipples are lower than the inframammary line the patient...
