Discomfort and appearance are the two most common reasons women seek reduction of the labia minora. Discomfort is a problem that can affect any part of your body from head to toes. However, medical insurance won't cover labiaplasty for any reason unless that reason is to remove a cancer of the labia or vulva. If you don't have cancer and need a labiaplasty, you will find that most labiaplasty experts offer payment plans to make the procedure easy to afford and loans if you wish to finance a portion or all of the balance. Your next step should be to seek out a virtual consultation with a labiaplasty expert to discuss your specific needs in detail.
Extremely redundant labia could be painful, but the source of your pain needs to be evaluated before considering surgery.
Thank you for your inquiry! Labiaplasty can be not only performed for aesthetic purposes but also for functionality. I recommend scheduling a consult with a Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon like myself to create a surgical plan with the goal of eliminating your pain.
Dear Resourceful600277Thanks for asking your question. Labial pain is a very broad term. It is important to know if the pain is present all the times or only during intercourse. Painful intercourse or Dyspareunia can happen to 7-10% of general population and a good work up by your gynaecologist can help find the underlying cause.Painful intercourse due to labia minora can happen when patient has a relatively long/large labia minora tissue that comes in the way or being pulled or pushed during intercourse. If that is the case then you would benefit from a labioplasy procedure that can help with the issue. You need to have a consultation with a plastic surgeon who performs labioplasty or a gynaecologist who is trained in female aesthetic genital surgery. I hope you find this explanation useful.

hello, first of all, how old are you and do you have children? In order to understand the cause of pain in the labia, you must have a gynecological examination. If the cause is understood, it can be treated. however, there is normally no treatment such as removing the labium to reduce pain
Hello and thank you for your question. Labiaplasty procedure is typically performed for cosmetic (not medical) reasons, in order to reduce the length and the width of the inner lips (labia minora). I suggest that you seek an in person consultation with a Board-Certified plastic surgeon specializing in Labiaplasty to further discuss your options, specific techniques, concerns and expectations.I hope this helps.Best regards, Dr. KaranetzDr. Irena KaranetzFellowship-TrainedBoard Certified Plastic Surgeon
HI resourceful, You can get a labiaplasty for a medical problem, but it depends on what kind of problem it is. If it is for pain, your surgeon can make a determination if the length and/or size of the labia is causing the pain. If you have a cyst or mass in the labia itself , perhaps the growth can be removed to relieve your pain. If you are asking if insurance will cover a labiaplasty without a definitive problem other than a cosmetic issue, they probaby will not do this. Hope this helps a bit,Best,Dr. Christine Rodgers
Have you seen a gynaecologist about your issue? Please find out what their diagnosis and recommendation is first to determine whether labiaplasty can help.
