Is dust dangerous after having rhinoplasty? I had surgery 3 weeks ago.

Healing after any facial plastic surgery is aided by the fact that the blood supply to the face and facial structures is so good.  Your question addresses the question as to what can be done to help the intranasal structures to heal effectively.  The most damaging effect of intranasal surgery is the trauma to the nasal membranes which function to clean and humidify the air going to the lungs.  The mucous membrane consists of a few cell types:  Ciliated cells that beat the mucous toward the throat to be swallowed and mucous producing cells that keep the membrane moist for humidification.  Both take some time to recover post surgery.  Saline rinsing and saline nose sprays are the best was to help things along.  Decongestant, steroid or antihistamine sprays probably should be avoided for the first couple of months.  In dust environments, the frequency of irrigation should be increased
