Is there anyway to lessen my hooded eyes? (Photos)

Question

I was born with this hooded eye shape, I wanted to know if there was anyway to reduce how hooded and droopy they are. I always have my age guessed wrong, people think I'm 5-6 years older than I really am and it bugs me. Also, because of my eye shape, I always look angry or sad, even when I'm not. I consulted with a doctor and he said there was nothing to do as I had a thick brow bone, and any surgery they did perform would produce very little effect. Advice?

Hi.  You have 2 main problems that are contributing to the excess tissue in the upper eyelids and both of them can be addressed.  You have ptosis (drooping) on the brows with the right sitting lower than the left.  This can be addressed with either botox for a subtle result or a browlift for a more permanent solution.  Once this has been done it can you can have an assessment to see if the upper eyelids need surgery to remove skin or not.CheersDamien

For significant improvement, hooded eyelids require surgery if there is enough skin. For nonsurgical treatments: Radiofrequency (Thermage or Venus Legacy/Viva), injectable fillers, and a Botox brow lift can help contour the eyebrows and lift the eyelid skin. You have natural hooding and low eyebrows. I would advise consultation with an Oculoplastics specialist to address both the low eyebrows and the hooding at the same time. I don't believe you will see substantial improvement with Botox. If you were my patient, I would recommend a localized lateral brow lift (which would take the lateral brow just above the brow bone) and upper lid blepharoplasty with some sculpting of the tissues under the skin and very cautious skin removal to avoid the complication of lagophthalmos (inability to close the lids).
