Is there a surgery to help my big eye/little eye situation? (Photo)

Question

Hi, so for some time now my eyes have been really bugging me. Every time when I take pictures and think I look great my eyes say otherwise! Every time I smile my big eye little situation is more visible and its really annoying. I try to squeeze the eye thats open the most a little bit to try and make them look symmetrical but it still looks weird. Is there any treatment or surgeries to help this? Also when I look up, you can notice that my right eye slightly cocked and off from the other eye.

Thanks for sending a photos with your questions. There is asymmetry between your two eyelids and it would be necessary to take a detailed history and assessment of your eyes before determining both a diagnosis and treatment plan. Although there is a suggestion of a droopy eyelid, termed ‘ptosis’ it would be prudent to have a consultation to discuss this in person. My suggestion is that you do research and schedule a consultation with an oculo-facial plastic surgeon experienced in both blepharoplast and ptosis surgery.

You appear to have left upper eyelid ptosis (drooping), but the photos do not let me assess this for certain.  Without an exam, it will not be possible to fully evaluate you and give you recommendations.   Be sure to discuss your goals and concerns with your board certified plastic surgeon and consider the pros and the cons. The short answer is yes, this can definitely be improved.
The longer answer is, I would recommend an in-person evaluation with an oculoplastic surgeon to sort out whether a simple ptosis repair or a more involved orbital surgery would be best to improve your symmetry. Ptosis repair would simply raise your left upper eyelid, while an orbital decompression would be used to make your right eye less prominent. Every person's situation is different, but there is definitely a good solution for you.
