I have just been diagnosed with IBS, will this have any impact on my breast reduction?

I know this sounds like a bit of a silly questions. I am having a BR in 10 weeks and this morning I was diagnosed with IBS and want to make sure that it wont effect my recovery? Hopefully soon enough I will be able to work out my triggers to make sure it is under control. I am very healthy Australian size 12E; 169cm, 66kgs, workout burning about 400 calories 6 days per week and am currently sticking to 1200 calories per day to try and loose a few kgs before the big day.

The two are unrelated and you should be fine to proceed with your breast reduction. always advise your surgeon of any underlying medical problems whether or not related. Good luck

A diagnosis of IBS should not have an impact on your breast reduction.  It sounds that you are doing everything you can to optimize yourself for this procedure. You should be okay

Assuming the irritable bowel syndrome is well-controlled, you should be able to proceed with breast reduction surgery. Make sure that your plastic surgeon is aware of the new diagnoses and of any medications you may be taking. It may also be helpful for your physicians ( primary care or gastroenterologist) to communicate with your plastic surgeon any concerns they may have regarding postoperative pain  management and any other concerns regarding the irritable bowel syndrome. Your question is by no means a silly one and I applaud you on asking, as a bigger problem would be when patients have medical issues that they do not bring up to the surgeon.  In your case, however, you should be fine as long as you are not on any new medications.
