Can you go to the dentist a few days before lip filler and use teeth whitening kits with filler?

i'm going to the dentist 3 days before i redo my lips - for a clean and to do a mould for a teeth whitening kit. is this ok doing the clean beforehand (i read after is bad) or will it potentially still affect my filler/mouth and lead to a risk of infection when i do my lips? and can i use a teeth whitening kit with filler (i will probably receive the kit just after i've redone my lips) or will it lead to a risk of infection or anything? thanks!

Great question!  Yes you can go to the dentist before you do the lip fillers.  You are correct in that you don't want to do dental work right after fillers.  However as long as you give it a few days after the filler injections, you can begin using the teeth whitening kit.  I would run it by your injector and follow their recommendations though.Best of luck and hope this information helps!

Thank you for your question! You can absolutely go to the dentist before your lips are injected with a dermal filler. The whitening trays should not cause any issues with your filler. I would, however, wait a day or two before using them to allow for any swelling to start to subside. You may want to ask the doctor performing the injections as they may have a specific post procedure time line they would like you to follow.

Thank you for your question.  You can definitely go to the dentist before you get your filler.  After filler your lips will settle for a few days therefore making it uncomfortable to go to the dentist straight after.  It would be recommended that you wait a few days if you are planned on going after.  All The Best

The main answer to your question is yes; you can go to the dentist before your doctor's appointment for lip augmentation. When it comes to teeth whitening kits, you may wait 2 or 3 days after the filler treatment because you need the swelling to reduce and the fillers set up in your skin. The whitening procedure won't affect the dermal filler placement, but the area's manipulation after having lip filler can be avoided for a few days. Ask your doctor for further information and about your after-treatment instructions.

Dental procedures done too close  lip augmentation or any lower face dermal filler rejuvenation may result in complications such as infections which may mimic a dental infection. These infections must be differentiated from facial cellulitis or from other dental infection as treatment for infection from dermal fillers may be prolonged with repeated use of antibiotics or removal of the filler material itself. We recommend waiting at least 1 week if you have deep teeth cleaning or  root canals, but with just a check up and a regular teeth cleaning you'll be fine, but you still need to be aware of the potential adverse reactions.

This is a great question.  There have been reports of facial fillers going “rogue”  when the patient has a dental or surgical  procedure too close to their filler treatment.  This is a very rare occurrence and cases seen include infection or inflammatory reaction in form of hardening, swelling and redness in the filler area.  I tell my patients to postpone any surgical or dental procedures for at least 2 weeks after a filler treatments to reduce risk of infections or inflammatory reactions.  This is also clearly stated in my post treatment instruction sheet.
