Can I get coolsculpting if I am taking low dose isotretinoin?

Question

The deem gave me a prescription to start on low dose isotretinoin so it's 20mg and I'm supposed to take it Monday Wednesday and Friday. Is it ok to get coolsculpting ? I have my coolsculpting booked on my abdomen for the 7th of January 2017. Thanks :)

You should not have any issues getting Coolsculpt while on isotretinoin. Isotretinoin can effect the healing of the skin after an ablative laser, but it would have no effect on your "healing" after getting Coolsculpt since Coolsculpt doesn't effect the skin, only the underlying fat.Andrew Campbell, M.D.Quintessa Aesthetic Centers

This should be fine as it does not affect the fat, only skin healing.
Do not have a cheaper machine, as if you do have a skin complication (such as a cold burn) this would be of concern.

Thank you for your question. Taking isotretinoin should not affect your Coolsculpting treatments. Isotretinoin can affect the healing of the skin after laser treatment. However, it should not affect your healing process after Coolsculpting since the treatment targets the fat under the skin. You should be fine to receive Coolsculpting on your body even though you are using Retinol.  This would not be the case if you were to receive treatment with ablative lasers like Pixel, Fraxel, Co2, etc.

I don't know for sure but I know that laser treatments should be avoided until it is stopped for 6 months because of impaired healing/scarring. I think that you are at risk for a poor outcome it you do this. I wouldn't treat at this time.

Taking isotretinoin will not interfere with CoolSculpting. Mention all medications you are taking and any medical conditions to your CoolSculpting provider.
