Assuming that skin laxity is not a factor, liposuction can remedy an enlarged mons area due to fatty deposits. Kenneth Hughes, MD, Board Certified Plastic SurgeonLos Angeles, CA
Liposuction in the area above the vagina, known as the mons pubis, is definitely possible. Although it could be done under local anesthesia, the area can be particularly sensitive, so we recommend getting IV sedation for the procedure. It also important to understand that liposuction will remove fat from the area, but will not have an impact on loose skin, so a mons lift may be necessary if you have both skin laxity and excess fat.
The area above the vagina is called the mons pubis. This area often has a localized collection of fat than is present in the rest of the body. This area can have liposuction to improve it. Please see a board certified plastic surgeon because they will be to evaluate whether you need just liposuction or actually need a reduction of excess skin which is often a problem in patients who have lost a lot of weight.
High definition liposuction of the mons can yield beautiful results. Keep in mind that the gold standard of treatment that will offer the best results will include three important features: VASER technology, PowerX liposuction cannulas, and Cool Helium Plasma skin tightening.
Hello and thank you for your excellent question. We frequently perform liposuction to the area above the vagina (i.e., the pubis). Of course, you will need an in-person consultation to evaluate you for this procedure. Preoperative visualization and surgical simulation with the Crisalix system may help with your decision. I suggest that you find a board-certified plastic surgeon with whom you are comfortable. Be sure to have all of your questions answered during a face-to-face meeting with your surgeon, and review before and after pictures of patients who have had similar procedures. Good luck!Best, Jon Ver Halen, MD FACS Harvard educated plastic surgeon Texas “Top Doc”
