I recommend following up with your Doctor about their after care protocol and the use of water pills after liposuction. For liposuction after care, I recommend adding hyperbaric oxygen and lymphatic massage along with your compression to help decrease swelling. To improve your final results, I also recommend adding vanquish for further fat removal, exilis/venus legacy for skin tightening, cellutone/z wave to make the skin smooth, remove scar tissue, and improve the skin’s appearance. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer
Thank you for your question. Swelling after liposuction is quite common. It's best to follow your surgeons specific advice post-operatively. We typically have our patients wear compression garments on the areas we did liposuction to help the skin and underlying tissues re-adhere as well as reduce swelling. Water pills won't help with the swelling unfortunately. Good luck!
Unfortunately water pills do not help with the swelling after liposuction. Your best approach is compression garments, activity and lots of water. In time you will see your new contour. Best wishes.
I don't think that water pills are a good idea. They can mess with your electrolytes. The best things to do for swelling is to wear your compression garment, and watch your diet, especially your salt intake. Best of luck.
It is not a good idea to take water pills after liposuction because it can cause fluctuations in your electrolytes leading to potential complications.
Thank you for your question. Watching diet, restricting sodium and compression garment are more effective. I usually do not recommend water pills. Please talk to your PS
Swelling of the liposuctioned area are due to inflammatory reactions as well as leaking of the fluid from the capillaries rather than fluid retention. A salt free diet, icing, massage and compression garments are more effective.
Great question.Water pills or diuretics like lasix help to deplete intravascular volume - that is the fluid in your blood vessels. The fluid retention or edema that occurs after liposuction is outside of the blood vessels and so diuretics don't really directly act on decreasing this fluid. In fact, using diuretics after liposuction can needlessly lower blood pressure and be dangerous.Hope this helps.
Only take water pills on the advice of your surgeon. Icing ,watching salt intake, and wearing compression garments seem to be the most effective in reducing swelling.
Small area liposuction is different for every MD and patient that uses that term. Often, a Plastic Surgeon may define an area as "small" if the procedure can be done in the office, under local anesthesia. Others may use the term to define a small area that can be removed at the same...
