What does a "small area" in liposuction mean?

This will vary between practices, but it can refer to calves, ankles, flanks, etc. Price will vary due to skills, expertise and technique. For best results, I recommend a hi definition procedure like VASER liposuction. I use VASER HI DEF with ThermRF and fat grafting to get the most fat removal, skin tightening, contour and definition. This combination will give you the most toned result. A "small area" in lipo usually refers to a targeted isolated area where skin tone is good. Most common areas are under the lower arms, neck, calves, ankles, back, and flanks.   Price is not just based upon the term "small" area with specific dimensions.  Lipo prices will fluctuate depending upon the area of the anatomy being targeted and the work necessary to remove the amount of fat the patient desires, i.e. lipo of the neck will cost less than lipo of the abdomen, buttocks or thighs. Kenneth Hughes, MD, Board Certified Plastic SurgeonLos Angeles, CA 

Small area liposuction is different for every MD and patient that uses that term.  Often, a Plastic Surgeon may define an area as "small" if the procedure can be done in the office, under local anesthesia.  Others may use the term to define a small area that can be removed at the same time as another procedure.  It is best to get a clear definition from the Plastic Surgeon who is seeing you for a consultation.

In my practice a small area would be a portion of the chin (under the jaw line), a portion of the arms (inner, outer etc.).  Pricing varies with Plastic Surgeons so what would be required is a consultation.  At that time, your questions can be answered.  I hope this helps.

I typically mean 1 or 2 areas of liposuction when I refer to a "small" area. Of course, you will need an in-person consultation to evaluate you for this procedure. Preoperative visualization and surgical simulation with the Crisalix system may help with your decision. I suggest that you find a board-certified plastic surgeon with whom you are comfortable. Be sure to have all of your questions answered during a face-to-face meeting with your surgeon, and review before and after pictures of patients who have had similar procedures. Good luck!
