Smoking electronic cig./ weed before rhinoplasty?

Question

I'm going to have rhinoplasty procedure done on March 25. I smoked 2 puffs from an electronic cig. this past Friday and smoke weed going on 2 weeks ago on Sat. I'm starting to freak out reading things online. I don't want my skin to fall off, which I've read online can happen. I don't know if I should reschedule my procedure for a later date or not? Starting to really freak out

Thank you for your question.  Smoking in general will increase your risk of complications associated with surgery and rhinoplasty can take a toll on the blood supply to the nose depending on what is being performed as part of the rhinoplasty procedure.  I would discuss this with your plastic surgeon to assess your risks in proceeding with the current timeline.

Consistent Smoking prior to rhinoplasty is not a good idea due to complications with skin necrosis and infection. A couple of puffs of e-cigarette within the first two weeks before the surgery should not be detrimentalto the healing process. Always best to check with your operative surgeon

Any amount of smoking could potentially cause issues with healing, especially if the plan is for open rhinoplasty. I would discuss all of these issues with your surgeon prior to going ahead with surgery.
