I had 100units of BTX injected to my forehead and crow's feet one week after a dental implant. I had some nasal bleeding and facial swelling on the side of the implant, and the oral surgeon gave me clindamycin. For 3 nights after the BTX injection, I would awaken in a bed of sweat, and my temperature was 100.0 The oral surgeon does not think the night sweats are related to the implant. Could it be the BTX? My CBC is normal, and feeling better. Thanks!

Answer: Botox and fever Thank you for your question. I have never heard of fever from botox injections. If it persists, I would see your primary care Dr. for evaluation.

Answer: Fever and Night Sweats After Botox While the dental implant could be the cause of your symptoms, the fact that this was one week after the implant makes this a bit unlikely. On the other hand, Botox can cause flu-like symptoms and this includes low-grade fever and increased sweating at night. The fact that your CBC was normal makes me think that your oral surgeon was correct. However, you also took Clindamycin. Your symptoms could also have been a reaction to this antibiotic. Clindamycin can cause numerous side effects including dangerous ones such as inflammatory bowel disease, bloody diarrhea and death. The most reasonable answer for me is Botox. If you check out Botox side effects, you will find that flu-like symptoms are listed among the common side-effects of Botox. This makes the other two possibilities much less likely.
