Nasal pressure and congestion related to botox injection?

Question

Hi, I had 25 units of botox injected for my frown lines. I've had this done twice before. I had the usual initial soreness at the injection site. I am 6 days post with nasal congestion and pressure. When I touch the top of the bridge of my nose it is very sore. Anyway this is related to the botox?

It is unlikely that your congestion is related to your Botox injection. If it persists, I recommend following up with your Doctor for a formal evaluation. Best, Dr. Emer

Hello and thanks for your question- 
The botox should not cause the stuffiness or nasal pressure/congestion. You may have been getting a cold/sinus infection just coincidentally as your treatment.

What you are describing is not familiar as one of the Botox side effects. I do not believe that this is related to your Botox injection. I advise you to get apportionment with your family doctor for congestion. Good luck!

Nasal congestion is not a symptom typically associated with Botox injection.  More than likely, it is coincidence that you developed an upper respiratory illness in the time period following your Botox treatment.  However, if you are concerned or if you believe these symptoms to be linked, we recommend following up with your injector.

Hello zoralov,Thank you for your question. Botox is not typically known to cause the symptoms you are describing and more than likely this is coincidental to the timing of your injections. Botox works locally in the muscle(s) where it is injected thus effect to more distant areas is not likely. Hope this helps.

Nasal congestion and soreness should not be a side-effect of Botox. This just happened to occur at the same time and antihistamines should alleviate the problem

Hi there, botox injected into the muscles that form your frown lines should not cause nasal congestion and pressure.  The botox could account for the soreness along the bridge of your nose if you had an injection in that area, but pressure is more likely related to sinuses. If you continue to have symptoms after 2 weeks I would seek attention from your primary care physician or ENT.
