What is the difference in flanks and waist?

The flanks in the waste of the same area as I understand it. Declaring areas for liposuction is primarily for billing purposes. The plastic surgeon can show you directly which areas he is planning to reduce during the procedure to make certain to view share the same aesthetic goal.

You are wright.  There IS confusion but, if I may, it is your "fault" for not clarifying it with your surgeon.To avoid this butcher shop body part confusion, most Plastic surgeon use terms like: Front abdomen or Tummy, Lower Back (Love Handle) area, Upper Back (Bra Rolls) Areas etc AND we ask our patients repeatedly at the end of the consultation if we addressed ALL their areas of concern.In your case, I would go for another visit with the surgeon, NOT an intermediary, for a quick confirmation of what you are having. You pose a good question. one which many patients need to consider. Different surgeons break down the areas in different ways. Some break down the areas treated into many different segments, to attempt to clarify the treatment to the patient. Others may just say 'abdomen' instead of 3-4 areas of the abdomen or flanks/love handles instead of breaking it down into 2-3 areas. While some would say the segmentation is for clarity, there is always the concern that it is to increase the price. The bottom line is that the areas treated should be what you specifically want and that the price for the procedure should be reasonable.To answer your original question more thoroughly, unless there are other significant factors, most surgeons would consider the flanks and waist to be one area and upper and lower bra rolls to be just 'bra rolls'. Hips are usually considered the area below and including the pelvis while the flanks/love handles are the area above.
