I am 31 and was burned with second degree blisters by a physician going too aggressive on an IPL laser. My skin is orange peelish with large pores, hyperpigmented In large spots, thinner looking, and premature wrinkles. All the things I was trying to prevent, it seemed to age me 10 years. Is there any creams, treatments, procedures (scary thought to do it again)you would recommend to correct?Ive heard of a girl having to do tattoo makeup to cover her IPL hyperpigmentation. What are my options?

Answer: Treatment for Hyperpigmentation After IPL Hi LA719, It definitely sounds like the IPL treatment was too aggressive. I'm sorry to hear about the burns after IPL. IPL gives great results, but safety must be the top priority. I would definitely recommend going somewhere for a skincare consultation, so a trained professional can examine your skin in person and determine the best treatment plan to suit your skin type. Hyperpigmentation can often be managed with a series of chemical peels. Chemical peels will help fade the hyperpigmentation, as well as reduce the appearance of pores and fine lines. Since you mentioned thin skin, you will need to make sure the treatment plan is safe and not too aggressive for your skin, as you do not want to cause any further issued or side effects. Another great option for fading dark spots and helping improve texture is a minimally invasive laser resurfacing treatment known as Clear and Brilliant. Clear and Brilliant is safe for all skin types and has a much lower chance of causing burns and other side effects that are noted more often with IPL. Nonetheless, consulting with a skincare specialist in person will help ensure that all your skin needs are addressed and you are treated properly.

Answer: Hyperpigmentation from IPL In most cases, HP from IPL or any other laser will gradually correct itself over time. This is assuming it was not a more severe burn, of course. However, various methods can be used, including bleaching peels, micro-needling or topical bleaching creams, to reduce or eliminate the HP you've experienced. Be careful with laser treatments if you are prone to HP and avoid the sun as much as possible. A good sunblock is crucial here.
