Can Botox or Lip Lowering surgery treat lip incompetence?

If Botox helped with your gummy smile then a definitive lip lowering procedure could be a very effective and long lasting solution. The procedure is performed through a small incision inside the mouth and the muscles that raise the central upper lip are disrupted. Very limited time and recovery with deliverable results. Botox could be injected into the chin which could help with lower lip tethering and incompetence.

aleyzailazaro.   Photographs or physical exam would help, but true lip incompetence is usually secondary to overly developed lips which are too large for the muscles of the lip to control, causing incompetence. By far, the best option for treatment is lip reduction surgery. It can be done in the office, under local anesthesia, and takes about one hour. I do not believe that Botox will correct this problem, and could make it worse. Be certain to consult with a board-certified plastic . Best of luck.

Using Botox in the lips will only create more incompetence of your mouth as it will weaken the orbicularis Oris muscle. Good luck for New York City
