Nose job and lip lowering procedure? (photos)

Question

Are there any doctors near the Austin area who do both of these procedures? When I smile my lip looks like Mama June's. When I smile I want it to go "sideways" rather than "up", if that makes sense. My smile has never been pretty, and I want to fix it while also fixing my nose which is big on its own. I understand it's mostly dentists who do lip lowering procedures, but I've seen a few cases where they're done alongside a rhinoplasty. Anyone do both?

Hello and thank you for your question.  The
best advice you can receive is from an in-person consultation.  In some patients, changes in the nasal tip can favorably alter the nasal lip junction.  Botox can also be performed for improvement in the upper lip smile.   Make sure you specifically look
at before and after pictures of real patients who have had this surgery
performed by your surgeon and evaluate their results.   The most
important aspect is to find a surgeon you are comfortable with. I recommend
that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified plastic surgeon who
can evaluate you in person.

A full set of facial photographs of the patient are required to make a determination about the most difficult procedure to perform correctly in the entire field of cosmetic surgery. If there is an active depressor sepi ligament, this can be released. Releasing of the depressor septi ligament prevents the tip from tethering downward with the upper lip upon animation.

Hi 123kittypaw. Sometimes the shape of the nose affects the upper lip length. For instance, if your nose is overprojected & long, it can make the upper lip distance seem short. Doing a rhinoplasty will definitely improve both the nose and the lip. In addition, if you also have a gummy smile, you can apply a small amount of botox to the muscles that elevate the lip to improve this. Good luck. Best, Dr H
