Cannabidiol (CBD) oil as topical application to help with muscle spasms post-op breast augmentation?

Question

I'm about 5 days post-op and the muscle spasms have been pretty bad. I've heard of spasms that come and go, but mine would contract for hours and I'll feel like i cant breathe. I heard that CBD oil for topical application (doesn't contain THC so i wont be getting the psychoactive effects) can help with muscle spasms. I've applied some on my skin and it's worked really well, but my question before i continue usage: will this effect my post-op results/healing in anyway? Not ingesting/smoking it!

Thank you for your questions. I am glad the product is helping you. To my knowledge, there have not been any reliable clinical studies that show effectiveness of this modality. That is not to say that is does not work, but that it has not been studied and proven safe and effective. In my practice, I use Valium as a muscle relaxer and find that it works well. I would discuss your concerns with your plastic surgeon.Best of luck!

Cannabidiol is a relatively new compound that has yet to be thoroughly researched. I am unaware of any good studies on its medical efficacy to treat muscle spasms. Instead, I tend to favour proven treatments such as valium to manage post breast augmentation muscle spasm. It is best to review with your treating surgeon his protocol of choice.

I don't have a problem with that but we don't hav any real evidence. But, as long as you are not putting it on your incision I can not see why it would harm at all to use it. Consult your surgeon to make sure they are ok with it however.
