Recommend that you schedule a consultation appointment with a board certified plastic surgeon who has performed numerous chin implants and neck liposuction with successful outcomes. The plastic surgeon can perform a quick physical examination of your chin and neck, review your medical history, and discuss all of the surgical options. The consultation will provide time for you to ask questions, better understand the chin augmentation process, the intended results, and any possible complications.Kenneth B. Without an exam your question cannot be answered. You will need to see an Oral/Maxillofacial surgeon to see if othognathic surgery, genioplasty or using an implant is best for your specific case. It should be noted that patients with severely weak jaws or abnormally functioning jaws may be better treated with other facial surgery (orthognathic surgery), although a chin augmentation may be an option at a later time. These patients should seek the advice of a plastic surgeon to determine which course is right for them. Here is some information to help you make this decision: Candidates for Chin Augmentation - Patients whose chin profiles are weak but have normally functioning jaws are candidates for Chin Augmentation. Many of these candidates have used injectable fillers in the past to strengthen the protrusion of their chins, but are looking for a permanent solution. If you are one of these patients, then you are a likely candidate for chin augmentation#weakchin #chinimplant
There is no age cut-off for neck liposuction, though the effect of neck liposuction and other minimally invasive procedures are limited. Neck liposuction only removes fat and in the right patient, 30 or 70 years of age, it is effective. There is no significant skin tightening effect from this procedure, no matter what liposuction type is used. If skin tightening and muscle banding treatment is needed, liposuction will make this worse. Make sure you consult with an experienced facelift surgeon to know what the options are and to determine if this is the right procedure for you, as age has nothing to do with it.
That is possibly the beast time to have a combined chin/neck procedures. However, what exactly should be done will depend of your goals and clinical presentation. In-person evaluation by an experienced board certified plastic surgeon should be your starting point. Good luck.
Hello, after about the age of 45 simply lipo with a platysmaplasty becomes less of an option due to skin laxity. Better, it is combined with a lower face and or a neck lift with incisions to help lift the excess skin. I know everyone wants an easier result without incisions but ultimately at your age you will be far happier with this combined approach. I often see patients after they only had chin lipo at your age and even younger which resulted in an unsatisfactory result and required additional work. Consult with several experienced surgeons that have performed these procedures hundreds if not thousands of times for best results.
This is a great time to address your concerns. Your board certified plastic surgeon will let you know what is recommended given your specific anatomy. Often at your age and older, liposuction is not recommended because of loss of the skin's elasticity. When the fat is removed, it can leave the patient with sagging skin and an unsatisfactory result. A face/neck lift with chin implant may be the better course of action in your case. Be sure to see a surgeon who has performed a great number of these procedures with the needed expertise for great results. Best of luck.
At 52 years of age, the skin tone is usually the driving factor to making a decision about which procedure to perform. At age 52, removing the fat in the neck can certainly be accomplished, but it may leave a significant amount of inelastic skin left over in the neck, for which a facelift may be required. A thorough examination of the skin tone in the neck by your operative surgeon will be required. For more information and many examples of both procedures, please see the link and the video below
Hi, while non smiling photos of your face from the front and side would help in the evaluation...in general terms face or neck liposuction alone isn't suggested for patients above 40 years of age. Why? Because the skin looses elasticity as we age and the incidence of having loose skin after liposuction alone in the face or neck after the patient is 40 years old goes up dramatically. Excess skin can be removed using a small, curved incision under the chin and if the chin is "weak" the same incision can be used to place a silastic chin implant as described below. I have performed many facial shaping procedures, including Chin Augmentation with dermal fillers or silastic chin implants, for over 30 years. When the chin is weak, this creates an imbalance making the nose appear larger, the mid face top heavy, the lower face looks short, de-emphasizes the lips and allows early formation of a "double chin". The silastic chin implant adds forward projection to the chin thereby creating harmony and balance to the lower face. Using the same incision, liposuction can be performed to reduce the fat to further shape the neck as well as removal of excess skin. I have found that placement of a silastic chin implant, through a small curved incision under the chin (also allows excess skin removal) to be very safe, quick, highly effective and far less invasive than a sliding genioplasty. I perform chin implant surgery in 30 minutes or less, often using a local anesthetic alone. Hope this helps.
