Answer: PRP causing hyperpigmentation. I have not seen hyperpigmentation of the skin from Microneedling wt PRP. In fact, it really breaks down hyperpigmented areas making them look lighter even after one treatment. In our office, our PRP patients are extremely happy wt their results and keep coming back every 6 weeks for their treatment. We also start them on Retin A and in some cases 4 percent Hydroquinone to enhance their results.

Answer: Platelet Rich Plasma, PRP Thank you for your question about Platelet Rich Plasma, PRP. Microneedling with PRP does not have the same risk of hyperpigmentation as laser or BBL/IPL treatments do. At our office we use PRP microneedling to treat patients with pigment concerns that are not candidates for any other pigment treatments. We typically recommend Lytera 2.0 or hydroquinone for patients at risk for hyperpigmentation. To be sure, see two or more experienced, licensed and board-certified providers in your area for a complete evaluation to make sure you are a good candidate and that it is safe for you to have treatment. I hope this helps.
