I received two injections yesterday -one of restalyn silk the other of just regular restalyn. I noticed severe swelling in my top lip about 5 hours after the procedure. Is this normal? Should I go visit my doctor? Did I get too much fillers? It's difficult to talk and they feel tight when I do talk.

Answer: I have lip injections swelling. Is this normal? I appreciate your question. Yes this is normal. Swelling can last up to 2 weeks in some patients. You can ice the injected area off and on every 10 min. You should also definitely call your Injecting MD and make them aware of your situation so he/she can review their post injection instruction sheet with you in detail and possibly have you come in so they can examine you at this time. The best way to assess and give true advice would be an in-person exam. Please see a board-certified plastic surgeon that specializes in aesthetic and restorative plastic surgery. best of luck! Answer: It is common to have some swelling and bruising after lip augmentation fillers which can take up to 2 weeks to resolve. Thank you for your question. It is common to have some swelling and bruising after lip augmentation with hyaluronic acid fillers which can take up to 2 weeks to resolve. You can help reduce swelling by applying cold compresses to the lips. As HA fillers are not permanent you can have them dissolved with hyaluronidase if unhappy with the results. If you have any other concerns please follow up with your injector. Best of Luck!
