I was thinking about getting an Alarplasty and maybe tiplasty. I like my nose when I don’t smile and I want subtle changes. And to look a bit softer. What is recommended. I don’t want to get a full rhino if I don’t need to. The two pictures are still my nose but how I want to look a bit more slim.

Answer: Rhinoplasty surgery for a narrower nasal appearance. Based on your photos, you appear to have relatively thick nasal skin, and a broad, flat nasal appearance. Rhinoplasty surgery may be considered for achieving a narrower and less distracting nasal appearance in your tip and nostrils. Please consider meeting with a reputable and experienced rhinoplasty specialist so you can see what to expect after surgery. Thank you for this question! Sincerely, Dr Joseph

Answer: What can I do for my wide nose when I smile? An alar- plasty can accomplish narrowing wide nostrils statically. This is accomplished by removal of a small wedge of tissue with base with the nostrils and sewing that together. Releasing the lateral ligaments underneath the alar- plasty incision can accomplish reduction of the dynamic flaring when smiling by approximately 40 to 50%. This can be performed under local anesthesia as an outpatient procedure.
