For arm liposuction post surgical massage - is manual or machine better?

traditional daily lymphatic massage for 7-10 days then 1-2x a week for 2-3 months is best. start exercising 2-3 weeks after liposuction to this area. "machines" do not help except for RF treatments. Best, Dr. Emer.

I understand your concern. It is best that you consult your plastic surgeon regarding post operative care and management (i.e including massage techniques and timing) specific to your case. Your surgeon knows your condition well and has preferences on when and what to use for faster healing and recovery. Post operative care and management depends on the type of surgery performed and the technique used during surgery among other factors.It is best, however, that you follow your plastic surgeon's advice on post operative care management for a smooth and faster healing and recovery.

I recommend checking with your surgeon to determine what is best for you as she/he is most familiar with the details of your surgery and how you've been progressing through recovery. Lymphatic massage can be helpful to control swelling and improve scar tissue formation. A therapist that is trained in lymphatic massage will be able to determine areas of focus, where a machine cannot.

Personally I don’t recommend massage after liposuction.

The tissues are usually very tender and massage will be painful and unnecessary. most plastic surgeons who push massage after the procedures have a financial secondary gain for recommending it.

There’s no scientific evidence supporting massage after liposuction.

If you’ve had liposuction I suggest you talk to your provider.
