About 1.5 weeks ago I had Coolsculpting done on inner/outer thighs. Uneven outer thigh treatments?

The right outer thigh had an issue and it had to be redone the following week. I had the right side done 5 days ago and the pain/recovery isnt at all similar to the left side. There is almost no pain on the right, where the left side had significant pain (still some discomfort). Should I be concerned that the treatments were not consistent? Im worried I may end up significantly uneven, wondering if I should do right side again.

It's quite early to assess your results at this time, as optimal results take 3 months to appear following your coolsculpting treatment.  There are several side effects that can occur as a result of your coolsculpting treatment, such as pain, swelling, numbness or bruising but they are not indicative of the effectiveness of your treatment and they can vary from the left leg to the right leg.  Be patient and if you're truly concerned, visit your coosculpting specialist at the 4 week mark.  Ensure that you have also chosen an experienced coolsculpting specialist, that you were properly assessed and correctly deemed a candidate.Best of luck,Dr. Philip Solomon, Solomon Facial Plastic

No, lack of pain doesn't mean you won't get a good result. It takes 3-6 months for final results with Coolsculpting. Keep in mind, some people need more than one treatment of Coolsculpting and for best results with Coolsculpting, I recommend a combination approach. I recommend adding radiofrequency treatments like Vanquish, Venus Legacy, Exilis Ultra for skin tightening and with Z wave/Cellutone for skin smoothing to improve your final results. See an expert. It is very likely that there will not be any unevenness in your thighs after your CoolSculpting treatments.  I would recommend waiting 3 months to see the full effect from your treatments and then if there is any difference between the sides, you could always have it retreated then.

The reaction after whether it be swelling, tenderness, numbness or itching does not have an effect on your final result. You should not be uneven or have inconsistent results. The side effects after CoolSculpting in no way indicate what kind of treatment results you will get from it.  Outer thigh treatment results may take up to 4 months ( slightly longer than the other areas) and I would wait to see the full results before deciding to retreat just 1 side.  The great things are that CoolSculpting works and the side effects will resolve.  Be patient.

Thank you for your question! I understand your concerns. Fortunately, side effects of CoolSculpting or lack thereof are not indicative of the effectiveness of the treatment. Some people experience swelling, bruising, numbness, and tingling, while others do not. There are even some people that experience these side effects depending on the body part they are treating (or left vs. right side)! Each CoolSculpting treatment can have different side effects, even when treating the same area(s).  Side effects do not necessarily determine whether an area is freezing more or less fat cells.  Wait at least the full 12 weeks and make sure to compare before and after photos before deciding to retreat.  It is not indicated to do another treatment on an area before 30 days post- treatment, unless a treatment was interrupted before the full cycle was completed.

Coolsculpt actually freezes and therefore destroys many fat cells in the area treated. About 20 to 25 percent. Results take about 2-3 months and then things are stable. May want more removed so a retreatment is necessary. It depends on the completed result and how you feel about it. Way to early to even guess on the outcome of the treatment you had 1.5 weeks ago. Good thing is that Coolsculpt is non invasive and is an office treatment.

The degree of discomfort or not does not effect the results of coolsculpting.  Oftentimes patients will have different experiences from one side of the body to the other. There is nothing to worry about. You should see some results in about 3 months.
