open capsulectomy is a treatment for capsular contracture. It is removal of the capsule around a breast implant. Indications for capsulectomy are if a silicone implant is ruptured, silicone nodules, capsule calcification, very thick capsule, fibrous hard capsule or has suspicious nodules.
Thank you for your question. After a breast implant is placed, your body forms a layer of tissue around it, which we call a capsule. Capsular contracture occurs when bacteria, bleeding, trauma, or an implant rupture can cause that tissue to harden and shrink. This can cause the breast to become deformed and painful. Open capsulectomy is part of the treatment for capsular contracture. The capsule is carefully dissected free from the surrounding tissue and removed.
Open capsulectomy is complete removal of the capsule that forms around the implant.Capsulotomy is the release of the capsule with multiple cuts in order to allow the capsule to expand .The indications for each vary depending on the condition.See attached link.

It is best to answer your question during a face-to-face evaluation, when you can discuss your goals and expectations for the procedure, and you can have a physical examination to evaluate for that procedure. I recommend that you find a board-certified, or board-eligible plastic surgeon with whom you are comfortable. Be sure to have all of your questions answered during a face-to-face meeting with your surgeon, and review before and after pictures of similar patients whom have had this procedure.
