I received 3 vials of Kybella for my first treatment about two weeks ago and I am still swollen under my jaw.

It can take several weeks for swelling to resolve. If you remain concerned, I recommend following up with your Doctor about your concerns. Kybella takes 1-3 treatments every 6 weeks to get desired results. The benefit of Kybella is each treatment is quick and completed in the office. Most patients need more than one treatment to get desired results.

I recommend following up with your practitioner for after care. It can take 6-8 weeks to start to see results with Kybella. To improve Kybella results, I recommend a combination approach with thermage, ultherapy, exilis. VASER liposuction in combination with ThermiRF is an alternative for contouring the chin, if you're a candidate. It is very common and I would still expect to see swelling 4-6 weeks after treatment and some numbness.

Kybella results in swelling for usually up to 4-5 weeks after the procedure. This is the norm. Typically, the swelling is the worst at the beginning or the first week. THe amount of swelling varies based on how much is used and the location that is injected. Most of my clients when treated under the chin will still be swollen for 3-4 weeks after the procedure but the swelling is most apparent to yourself. Usually week 5-8 after the procedure, the skin will retract and result will become evident.

Hi sarbear234, Kybella treatment is oftentimes accompanied by substantial swelling. And the more Kybella was injected, the more fat cells are dissolved. This leads to inflammation that can last for weeks. Results may be seen in 25 days but in certain cases become obvious much later than that.All the best, Justin Harper, M.D.
