Hello! I would like to permanently correct my hollow under eye area. I already have an appointment for a fillers consultation, but I would really prefer a permanent solution to correct this area. Any feedback is greatly appreciated!! Thank you.

Fillers like Belotero, Volbella, and Restylane Silk are good for improving under the eyes, but keep in mind that a combination approach will give the most improvement. My patients try to get non-surgical treatments to avoid surgery, so we use fillers, lasers, microneedling/PRP and stem cells. Hello luvlailai,While filler is a great option for the undereye hollows, as you note the results will be temporary lasting about a year.  Another option would be to consider fat transfer, utilizing your own fat as a filler to that tear trough area.  I find in my practice that fat is very natural looking and can be long lasting. If you have any bags under the eyes, that fat can potentially be repositioned to help fell the hollow.  I would recommend an in person consultation with a facial plastic surgeon in your area to discuss your options. Thanks for your question!Without a thorough, in person, physical examination, I can't fully evaluate the issue. I totally understand the desire for lasting and permanent solutions. The permanent options would be permanent filler, implants, blepharoplasty with fat repositioning, or fat injection. I don't like permament filler... at all. I'd be worried that implants won't be a great permanent solution for you either because your soft tissue and bone will change significantly in the next 20-30yrs. I'd recommend finding someone you can trust to help you!Hope this helps and God Bless!Dr. Robb

The only permanent solution to the under eye area is a lower blepharoplasty.  The results should last about eight to ten years. You should also develop an anti-aging regimen with your facial plastic surgeon that will include skin care and laser treatments to maintain the results of your blepharoplasty and keep your skin looking healthy and young as you age. There are a few options to consider.  One is fillers which you are already exploring.  They do a nice job of adding volume and disguising irregularities.  They last approximately a year.  You can also consider lower blepharoplasty surgery which is a permanent solution.  Another option is ALMI.  This non surgical procedure uses your own tissue to smooth contours with added volume.  It also improves skin tone and texture.  Be sure to see an expert injector to learn more.
