Why do I have a hard lump in my nasolabial fold 4 weeks after Juvederm injections?

This could be scar, swelling, filler etc. I suggest getting injections with hyaluronidase and if that doesnt work after a few days to try steroid/5FU injections and fractional laser or RF with microneedling.  In the future get cannula injections with fillers.  Best, Dr. Emer.

A persistant lump in an area of Juvederm injection can be caused by over-injection in that area. This will go away by itself with time, or hyaluronidase can be injected into the area. This should be done only by an injector with experience in  doing this.Another possibility, although not very common, would be a foreign body reaction to the Juvederm or to any skin that was inadvertantly pushed deeper at the time of injection. If this were the case, the lump would not go away with time. Then treatment would be more problematic and would include excision of the lump or injection of a corticosteroid which would soften and shrink the mass. This possibility is much less likely as it takes a prolonged amount of time to develop a foreign body reaction.           jlr
