What effect do NSAIDs have on SculpSure results?

Question

If during Sculpsure fat cells are heated and killed, the 12 weeks after that is mostly focused on one's body clearing away the damaged fat cells, right? If that is correct, then how do NSAIDs reduce one's results? The fat cells are already dead.

Since NSAID's slow the inflammatory result, this could slow the results of sculpsure. This laser destroys fat cell membranes and these dead cells are then metabolized and secreted by the body by an inflammatory process. I would take tylenol for any discomfort.

NSAIDs are a great way to achieve relief of minor pain following this procedure. There are no significant reasons (or contraindications) to avoid taking them - if you have no allergies and are otherwise healthy. Follow the appropriate  dosing instructions and you contact your doctor if this isn't providing enough relief.

Thank you for your question. There are no studies looking at the effects of NSAIDS on Sculpsure results. However, you are correct the cell has been lysed and killed at the time of treatment. NSAIDS would just slow the bodies ability to clear the cells and delay the results.

The damaged fat cells are cleared from the body by a process referred to as inflammation.  It is a coordinated effort of the body involving many diffeerent cell types/hormones/enzymes, etc.  NSAIDS reduce the bodies ability to perform this process, so, temporarily you should refrain from NSAIDS until the inflammation has slowed down.

The injured fat from the SculpSure procedure needs to be metabolized via an inflammatory process.NSAID's will inhibit inflammation and could alter the result.Tylenol would be fine to take.Best wishes, Dr. Denkler

In THEORY inflammation helps clear up the fat cells destroyed by SculpSure, however NSAIDs can dampen your body's immune response. Hence its best to avoid in theory. In theory, the NSAID could affect the pathway which helps to cause the breakdown in the fat. I suspect in practice for most people, it would have little affect. it is unlikely that we will ever know the answer for sure, since it would take a large scale double blind study, which would be expensive to do and is unlikely to ever get funded.i tell patients in general to avoid them for a few days before and after but i doubt it would really make a practical difference.david berman md

SculpSure patients are advised to not use anti-inflammatory medications during this procedure; a few days before and for at least 12 weeks post-treatment. Anti-inflammatory medications (NSAIDS) can suppress the inflammatory response that is needed to disrupt the fat cells. 
Taking Acetaminophen is recommended for pain management, if needed.
