Is it possible to get a more defined nose bridge and change the shape of my nostrils? (Photos)

Question

I have a very flat nose. It’s unusually flat to the point that I’ve gotten comments on it and I’m really self-conscious about it, especially when taking pictures. What procedure could I take to get a more defined and prominent nose? I’m the only one in my family with a nose this flat, and it messes with my confidence big time. My nostrils are V-shaped as well — is this normal? I have literally never seen anybody with this nose shape? Thank you all for all the answers.

Your entire midface is deficient.  I’m not sure a rhinoplasty alone wlll correct the situation enough although it is an option. I think it is worth consulting a maxillofacial surgeon or orthodontist to see if part of the problem is with the jaws.

It is possible that rhinoplasty surgery could help to get you a more defined and prominent nose.  I recommend you schedule a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon who is very experienced with rhinoplasty surgery.  They may even be able to morph your photos to give you an idea of expected/possible results.  Best of luck.

Based on your photos, you have an ethnic nose. That means your nose has low height, wide nose base , wide nose tip and flared nostril ( nose ala or wings). For your case I recommend; decreasing of bone wideness with osteotomy ( your nasal bone can be approximated to each other) , height of your nose can be increased with cartilage graft, tip part of your nose can be reshaped to get triangular, more defined nose tip shape. Lastly your nasal nostril can be decreased in size. I think this combination can give good result for your case.

Absolutely. You can raise the bridge, define the tip and change the orientation of the nostrils with augmentation rhinoplasty. This involves adding support and structure to the nose. The most commonly used structural graft for this kind of rhinoplasty is cartilage, which can come from your septum, ear and/or rib. The amount of augmentation you need probably means a rib cartilage graft will be necessary.  You will need to consult with an expert rhinoplasty surgeon to discuss your goals and undergo a thorough examination to determine if you would be a good candidate for surgery. Best of luck.
