How do I avoid damaging my nose while I sleep after getting a nose job?

I want a nose job, but I’m worried about damaging my nose in the months after surgery while I sleep. Even if I try sleeping on my back, I always wake up on my side or stomach with my face in the pillow. This is obviously not good to do after a nose job. I live alone, so no one could move me if I were to put my face to the pillow. How do people prevent this? Would I be able to wear a cast while I sleep for the first few months after surgery?

Hi @newnoseforme123! This is an excellent question. I recommend taping your nose and also wearing your post-op nose splint for protection. You can run the splint under hot water to mold it. Best of luck, Dr. Nima!

Patients always worry about this. However, you would wear a clear nasal splint for a week postoperatively. Afterwards, contact sports are not a good idea but turning over in bed will not have any negative effects.
