Is this considered a minor revision rhinoplasty and less invasive?

Hello. I had a consultation with a rhinoplasty specialist about having some minor work done to my tip. He said he could lift my columella up slightly and shave a little off the tip through a closed approach. I just wanted to know if this would be considered a minor revision surgery and "less invasive" procedure? Thanks!

From what you describe, your goals could be achieved by a brief office procedure under local anesthesia with light sedation.However an in person consultation would be necessary to confirm the plan.

Over the years I have seen many noses following previous rhinoplasty. Most will fall into one of two categories; minor or major. The nose is made up of several different parts, as they heal, occassionally there may be an irregularity. Usually these issues can be fixed fairly easily for the patient and is much less of a procedure than the first one. The second category are bigger issues. If a nose has been previously traumatized, is very crooked, required extensive grafting, or if the skin is very thick revisions may be more involved.

Revision rhinoplasty is one of the most difficult operations to perform correctly in the entire field of cosmetic surgery, so it is not minor  surgery.  It is also important to make sure all the components of the nose are balanced with  themselves in a 3-dimensional fashion, and the entire new nose is balanced with the  patient's facial features.  A columella-plasty and a tip-plasty can be accomplished with a closed rhinoplasty approach by making all incisions on the inside of the nose.  No external incisions are required.
