Is it possible to have supratip swelling one year after a revision rhinoplasty?

Thanks for the question. Swelling after rhinoplasty is common and lasts 12 to 18 months. This far out from surgery, I would be a little bit more concerned that the issues that you’re seeing might be permanent. I strongly advise you to talk to your surgeon to find out what options are available.

Hi and thanks for the question. An in-person exam would be needed to determine if the fullness in your supratip is related to swelling, scar tissue, or cartilage. It’s possible that over a few months, the tip of your nose deprojected more than desired, in which case the tip can lose definition and the bridge can lose the curve/supratip break. Definitely bring up your concerns with your surgeon and ask her or him if a steroid injection would help. You could consult with a couple of revision rhinoplasty specialists as well. The area just above the nasal tip is refered to as the supra tip region of the nose. In the post op male nose, it may be rather full ie. Straight. In the post op female nose, we usually want a gentle concavity, not a deep divit. If this area is full after surgery, if it's soft then it may be only scar tissue and reduced with a steroid injection. If it's hard, then it my be cartilage grafting material and this may require surgical removal. Ask your surgeon.
