Drains were removed 11/22. I know im suppose to keep the drainage sites clean, What are the suggestions in keeping the sites clean and free from infections? One of my sites are still leaking fluids. Just want to take the proper precautions in cleaning the area. Thank You
Answer: Drain sites All of the answers here are good. Normally those sites close & stop draining within a couple of days of drain removal. As long as no increased pain or fever, probably just gentle cleaning & coverage as suggested. Good idea to have your surgeon/staff take a look & make sure not infected, but unlikely without increased pain, redness or fever.

Answer: Drain sites Usually drain sites close down within a few days. I will often have patients just place a dry dressing over it while it still drains. Best to ask your surgeon his preference.
