Bruising after BBL. Is this normal? (Photo)

Is bruising like this normal after BBL? I am 8 days post op today (pictures taken today). The pictures are of the left/right hip areas and the pelvic area. My main concern is of the bigger, darker bruise.

Thank you for your question. It is normal to have bruises. After liposuction and BBL there is a process of swelling and bruising that peaks at 3 days after surgery and then undergoes the first stage of major resolution in the first 2 weeks after surgery.  The later phase of healing takes place over the 2-3 months after surgery where everything really settles and softens.  It is after this time that we are getting close to the final result, though this varies patient to patient.

After BBL it's very normal to experience bruising and swelling for two weeks following the procedure. The pictures you are showing are pretty much what I would expect 8 days after surgery.

 You are still at the healing stage. The area in your lower back will be still bruised and swollen and this will take 8-12 weeks to settle. Wear your garment and keep your follow up with your surgeon.

Your bruises will starts to disappear after 1-2 week, and the majority of swelling is gone in 6 weeks. In terms of returning to work, you can return to work after 2 week.

Hello Loveme199k - Based on the photos that you have provided, your bruising appears normal. Sometimes bruising can get worse as time goes on right after a BBL. Also, the bruising can travel in a downward direction, thanks to gravity. Bruising and swelling can last several weeks. It is important for you to be patient during your post operative period. You have to give your body at least 12 weeks to start seeing results and final results can take 3-6 months depending the way your body heals. You are still at the healing stage. Please follow up with your surgeon.
