After the initial resorption phase, the fat that is left is living tissue with a blood supply. For the Brazilian butt lift, about 50 to 70% of the fat survives long term . I have seen patients after a year or two and the pictures reveal that the gain is permanent. Perhaps this is due to injection technique, harvest technique, amount transferred.Kenneth Hughes, MD, Board Certified Plastic SurgeonLos Angeles, CA
Please note that not all 100% of the grated fat cells will survive. Please adhere to your surgeon's post op instructions to maintain maximum fat cells post op. In addition, it is recommended to maintain a stable weight post op to maintain the volume of your buttocks.Regards,
A Brazilian butt lift harvest fat from areas with the fat removed from the areas using your own fat it transfer to the buttocks and into the hips. The common donor sites for this procedure is your posterior waist/flanks, lateral thighs, back, waist, and anterior tummy. After a successful Brazilian Butt lift, the fat that remains will stay there for the rest of your life. Like the rest of the tissue in your body this fat will grow and age with you.Choose a board certified plastic surgeon who is highly experience in Brazilian Butt Lifts. choose one wisely.Surgeons, Like myself offer online consultation, so that you can be examined.
Thankyou for the question. BBL is typically a procedure that transfers unwanted fatfrom the hips and other areas to the buttocks. There is some element ofunpredictability as to how much of the transferred fat survives. Survival ofthe transferred fat depends on the quality of the fat, method ofharvest and processing, method of fat transfer, injection technique, anatomy and blood supply of the recipient site, and how much fat wastransferred. Any quantity of fat that survives after the initial postoperativeperiod will become permanent. So, to answer your question, you don't have torepeat the treatment periodically, unless you are not satisfied with theresults and would like to consider secondary fat grafting to enhance theprojection. Please discuss your specific concerns with your surgeon. Also, askyour surgeon to show you before and after pictures of his/her patients. Thank you for your question. With Brazilian butt lift we transfer fat from one area of the body to the other. These fat cells are transferred in microinjections throughout multiple planes in the buttock tissue so that they can gain new blood supply and live in their new home, providing increased volume and shape to the buttocks. Around 70% of fat that is grafted is typically expected to survive long term. We also put a little extra to account for loss of fat post operative, which is reabsorbed gradually by the body. That said, you definitely have to choose your surgeon correctly and make sure that he/she has the training and experience to meet your goals with absolute safety. Best is a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon with specialized expertise in this procedure.
Fat grafting in general has 60 - 70% retention rate. Meaning the volume that you get immediately after the surgery will go down by about 30%. This is assuming good technique and post op compliance. I usually tell my patients whatever is there 6 months post op, is going to stay. And yes you can repeat the surgery to add more volume if your surgeon feels that you have room to increase the size.
Theoretically, the results of the Brazilian Butt lift lasts forever. Once the fat is transferred, whatever survives after the initial period should be long term. Essentially, the amount of injected fat that you have six months after the surgery is what will remain. A patient who loses a significant amount of weight in the whole body would become smaller everywhere including the buttocks. but the relationship between the buttocks and the rest of the body usually stays the same.
If the fat "takes" the result is permanent. That being said, not all fat "takes" and some patients need additional fat grafting.
Thanks for posting your question. BBL fat transfer is theoretically permanent, with final results at around 6 months. Significant weight changes will change your buttock size even long term, so always keep that in mind.
Thanks for your question. BBL involves transferring some unwanted fat from your body to the buttocks to enhance and shape your butt. Not all your fat may survive post surgery so whether you need to redo the procedure will depend on your desired goal and how much percentage of your fat gets reabsorbed. Please consult in person with a board certified plastic surgeon that has extensive experience in BBL and body contouring to discuss your options and concerns. Best wishes!
BBL infections have never happened in my personal practice experience. That being said, there are several conditions that exist that may enhance the chance of infection. 1. Smoking slows down healing and increases the chance of other complications including infection.2. Diabetes affects...
A Brazilian Butt Lift is an involved procedure. Attempting this under local anesthesia will likely result in a suboptimal result and increases the risk of lidocaine toxicity. Make sure to understand exactly why your surgeon wants no anesthesia and make sure they are properly board certified.
Hello idania77 - Thank you for your question. I do not recommend transferring fat from the breasts to any part f the body. There is the potential for breast cancer to be in breast cells and that is not advisable to transfer. Next step for you is to schedule a consultation with a board c...
