9 weeks post op. Very numb at lipo sites, a lot of soreness on my sides.

Question

Nine weeks after mini TT and lipo of flanks, upper and lower abs and sculpting at my waist. I am still very numb in upper and lower front and back, and of course hardness under the incision. I am worried about the numbness that does not seem to be getting better. I can only feel my sides and they are very sore and tender to the touch. Although I have lost about 10lbs, I have gained a muffin top after this procedure. :( Is this normal?

Side effects post liposuction tend to linger for several weeks after liposuction and TT. Things tend to iron out around 6 months post procedure. Given you're less than 3 months in recovery I would expect you to experience these symptoms. However, if you are experiencing pain and tenderness that cannot be ameliorated with OTC anti-inflammatory medications I would advise a follow up with your doctor to exclude any infection. Thank you for your question. The numbness after a tummy tuck and liposuction is very normal - and some areas may be numb for up to a year. In fact, depending, the area below the belly button may never fully regain sensation. It can take about 3-6 months for the swelling to truly come down, and even longer in some cases. If you have concerns, you should likely see your Plastic Surgeon for an evaluation - but this is very common. Best of luck!
