3 weeks ago, I went under the knife and received 650cc mentor gel implants. I was originally a 34A/small B. These 650s were never intended to be permanent, as I truly want 800ccs. But, I feel that the 650cc size is much smaller than I imagined it would be. And I'm starting to wonder if they'll ever look bigger than this? Under clothes I look like a B cup still. Will my boobs seem larger after they drop? Is my muscle squishing the implant making it seem smaller?
Answer: Post op Two things happen and seem paradoxical. As as the swelling goes down there will be some shrinkage but at the same time as the muscle relaxes your breast projection grows. In general the breast shape and size proportionality improves..Breast implants initially after surgery when placed in a submuscular position often give superior fullness that corrects itself with time, the "fluff and drop" phenomena. In reality the pectoralis major muscle takes a while to adjust its size to accommodate the implant as well as occasional muscle spasm which keeps the implant projection higher than its final resting shape. Additional variables include:laxity of skin, size difference during prior pregnancies, position of implant, size of muscle, and size of implant. As the muscle relaxes the projection of the implant often increases and the breast shape improves. Massage and use of a superior placed elastic strap can often make this process go faster.

Answer: Breast Augmentation Recovery Thank you for your question and doing your homework on RealSelf. You are still very early in the recovery process and your tissues will undergo changes for the next few months as the lower tissue stretches to accommodate the size of the implant. The implants will settle into position and project nicely. I usually recommend patients wait 9-12 months before considering any type of size change. It is important to communicate with your surgeon and develop a follow up plan and timeline so that your aesthetic goals are best achieved. Best wishes on a great result and speedy recovery.

Answer: Will my 650cc UHP Mentor gel implants appear larger as they drop? Congratulations on having undergone the breast augmentation procedure. No one will be able to predict exactly what cup size you will wear or whether the breast will look larger in the longer term. Variables involved include the presence of swelling currently and the disputed phenomenon called “dropping and fluffing” that occurs after several weeks. In my practice, I have seen this phenomenon occur; the breasts appear larger as the implants "settle". It may be helpful to you to know that many patients, shortly after breast augmentation surgery is performed, feel their breasts are “too small” or “too big”, only to be very pleased with the longer-term outcome of the procedure performed. At this point, I would suggest continued patience and continued follow-up with your plastic surgeon. Stay emotionally even keeled during the process of physical and psychological “adaptation” to the new body image that occurs for any patient undergoing body contouring surgery.Best wishes; hopefully you will be very pleased with the longer-term outcome of the procedure performed.

Answer: Will my 650cc UHP Mentor gel implants appear larger as they drop? Thank you for your question. It is hard to tell what size your breast will be exactly once they have dropped and softened. The shape will be much more natural looking once the implants have dropped, and that can take 2-3 months for the implants to take their shape. I don't know that they will appear larger, but as I said it is hard to tell at this point. Give you breasts some time to heal and settle. They won't look much larger though because you still have swellign that will most likely go down a little bit.If you would like more information regarding breast augmentation and the recovery process, you can download a free copy of my breast augmentation planner at ABetterBreast.com.

Answer: Will my implants look bigger as they heal In my patients it takes a lease 2 to 3 months for the implants shape to become stable. So you're still very early after the surgery. Remember skin can only stretch a certain amount and at some point the skin will tear and you'll get stretch marks. When you put an implant that is very large in place stretch marks can become common. The other thing you have to consider is the weight of the implant. The larger the implant the heavier it is, ane the heavier the implant the more stretchy skin over time. So a moderate size implant at 10 years will probably look better than all very large implant to 10 years.
