Thanks for your question. By design monopolar radio frequency (RF) will penetrate deeper into the skin and usually have better skin tightening results. With monopolar, a neutral pad is placed somewhere under the body to complete the circuit. In multipolar, the neutral is in the handpiece and does not penetrate very deep. RF is attracted to water. For best results, go well-hydrated to RF treatment appointments.Fat melting is not a concern with most RF devices. In order to melt fat, the cells have to be exposed to high temperatures for an extended period of time. We utilize Pelleve RF for skin tightening. Its target temperature is 42-45 degrees C for 3-5 minutes. In order to achieve fat melting at that temperature, the fat cell would need to be heated for 20+ minutes.
