Neuromodulators such as Dysport and Botox can be used in the lower face for treatment of specific issues, but these are generally more complex than injections in the upper face, and the risk of complications in this region is higher if these are not performed by someone with extensive experience. The lines running from just outside the nostrils down toward the corners of the mouth are known as the nasolabial folds. These are typically due to volume loss in the face related to the aging process and would not be well treated with Dysport, but can typically be improved with volume restoration through injection of fillers. Other thin vertical lines between the nose and the upper lip may be related to a history of chronic sun exposure and would likely be better treated by skin resurfacing with a laser or chemical peel. I recommend undergoing evaluation with a board-certified physician who has specialized experience in treating facial aesthetics in order to address your specific concerns.
Dysport or Botox are typically used for the upper face, brow, crows feet, gabella region. They can also be used to treat the chin, and the marionette lines and lip lines. The nasolabial folds are treated with filler not neurotoxins.
Great question! For the lines you are describing, you would achieve better, more natural looking results with a filler like Restylane.
The laugh lines are best treated with volume restoration so Dysport does not play a role in the treatment of laugh lines. I prefer Restylane and Restylane Lyft for volumizing the mid face and checks and treating the laugh lines directly. Best wishes, Dr. Aldo
Dysport and other neurotoxins can be used in the lower portion of the face, but great care should be taken in the area around the mouth as functional problems can easily occur. Depending on each patient's specific anatomy, fillers are often better around the mouth area. There are certain areas in the lower face such as the chin or lower corners of the mouth where Dysport can be effective and is relatively safe, but only in the hands of an experienced injector and even then, only in small quantities. All the best,
Yes, Dysport can be used for these lines. Results will last 3-4 months. I usually recommend a combination approach with lasers and microneedling/prp for the most improvement in this area. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a cosmetic dermatologist. Best, Dr. Emer
Dysport can be used in the lower face. We use it with beautiful results in the "smoker's lines" above the lips and in the dimpling area of the chin. However, it is not the treatment of choice for the nasolabial folds that you are asking about. Those lines are caused by loss of volume and not by repeated underlying muscle movement, so they need fillers. Many fillers can restore the volume in those folds in ways that look and feel very natural. Fillers generally last about a year in this area. Visit with an experienced physician injector in order to learn more about your options.
Thanks for the question. Dysport can be used for the lower face and has some really great results but it depends on the issue being treated. For the nasolabial folds, fillers are much better in decreasing the depth of the line. See an expert injector for an opinion.
The line running from the nose to the upper lip is also known as the nasolabial fold. With time, this line can become deeper and more apparent - this is due to gradual volume loss on the face due to the natural aging process. Dysport will not be effective at treating the nasolabial folds - these are better addressed with fillers, such as Voluma, Restylane, Restylane Lyft, Juvederm, etc. Neuromodulators like Dysport and Botox are used to treat lines and wrinkles created by repeated muscle movement. They can be used in the lower face, to address issues like a gummy smile, downturned lips, or to contour the jawline and reduce teeth grinding. That said, I typically recommend against using Dysport in these areas, as it tends to spread more than Botox and can affect other muscles in the area, causing facial asymmetry. Botox injections are fairly complex - I would recommend seeking a consultation with a board-certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon with extensive experience in Botox injections.
Thank you for your question. Yes, Dysport can be used for the lower half of the face such as the jaw, chin and lips. These areas should only be injected by an experienced injector. I am assuming in your description you are referring to the nasolabial folds which is best improved with a dermal filler. I recommend having a consultation with an expert to determine the best treatment plan for you. Best of Luck!
Thank you for your question. From looking at your photos I believe you have eyebrow ptosis. This can happen when too much Dysport has been injected or it is placed improperly. You can have some more Dysport injected around the brow and crow’s feet to counteract this and help lift the brows. H...
Thanks for your question. I always recommend delaying the procedure for 1-2 weeks until you get better. Its always best to practice safe injections in order to minimize complications.
While Dysport® results can be visible after 2 to 3 days, it is normal for it to take up to a week to fully develop. As yours was only injected 2 days ago, try to be patient and give it a little more time to settle. You will probably see the results within the next couple of days. Bear in mind ...
