It sounds like you have done your research.  Although you have not included a photo, I think that based on your description there is no better procedure for what you have described than fat grafting.  Fat grafting is safe, there is an abundant supply, and techniques have improved over the past few years so that grafted fat survival is more predictable.  You may require a couple of sessions, but each session is quite well tolerated and you can eventually get the result you are hoping for.

Fat grafting is a procedure where fat is liposuctioned from another area of your body and transferred to the area missing volume. The procedure can be done under local with IV sedation or under general anesthesia.  Fat grafting is a more permanant solution compared to fillers. Fat has a 50-75% chance of surviving once injected.
